As many synergies …...
#2
the Warrior creature type also opens up tribal and party synergy cards. It's harder with only creatures, but there is a genre of "big, recursive threats" like Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis or Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord that you can use the creature based entomb effects to grab. That would let you jam power-matters cards like Shadowheart, Dark Justiciar (who is an elf btw).

Table Talk and …...
#3
I get that it might be more beneficial to you for everyone to not discuss, but I don't know how much you'll be able to just get everyone to stop talking altogether. I play cards from the "Tempt with" cycle so I get where you're coming from, but the tables I'm used to at least, telling everyone to shut up and not discuss the spell that's being played feels like fun policing.
In this vein, however, there are a handful of cards that I would check out in this vein. Sadistic Shell Game is super fun every time I play it, and I also recommend Volcanic Offering and its ilk. They've done a good job iterating on the vote cards that frequently either "scale with stupidity" or never quite do what you want.

#1Lame answer? Part of it might be so the lore counters get cleared off for paper play. "Modified" was one of the main set mechanics, and sagas would automatically be modified creatures if they still had them. There also might be some rules hitch about how sagas sacrifice themselves when their last ability resolves; it could be solved by changing the rules to check if it's still a saga upon resolution, but exiling and returning has the same effect where that is concerned, barring summoning sickness.
