Age Symbols set to be a reference to my #1 favorite Dragon in all of Magic: The Gathering - the moment I knew for certain I am a Timmy: Savage Ventmaw.

And the madlads at WOTC finally made it a Commanderfoil. Bless their hearts for doing so.

Them: You can't describe yourself with a meme...

Me:

It really be like that tho

Catrina, Oath of the Mirror

Legendary Creature - Human Knight

Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery that targets only Catrina, you may copy it. If you do, choose a new target. (The copy must choose a different target.)

: Transform Catrina. Activate only as a sorcery.

"One for all!"

3/4

Catrina, Broken Mirror

Legendary Creature - Phyrexian Knight

Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery that only targets Catrina, copy it for up to each other Phyrexian you control. Each copy targets up to one of those Phyrexians.

"and all for one..."

I believe Catrina is the woman featured on both halves of the card you linked, LunchBox1211

Love it!!

February 20, 2025 6:36 p.m.

So Tibalt was March of the Machines when Tyvar plunged the arm-blade into his chest and threw him off a bridge or something. But let's assume Tibalt survived, and that his madness allowed him to retain control from the Phyrexian mental corruption. Especially with the Praetors dead, he's now out and on a rampage where he made his way to Ravnica only to find The Cult of Rakdos without a leader since Rakdos decided he wanted to play cowboy for a bit.

Tibalt, Devilishly Sinister

The wording is to negate confusion for permanents such as Godless Shrinefoil. It's to prevent the whole

  • "Do I pay 4 life for the doubled shockland, 2 life for the doubled Tibalt trigger or do I pay all 6 life combined??"

Six. It's all six life.

I feel horrible for making such a card so make for me a card for my favorite Angel in the game; Aurelia

Savra, Queen of the Selesnya

Legendary Creature - Elf Shaman

Whenever you cast a green creature spell, you may pay 2 life. If you do it enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter.

Whenever you cast a white creature spell, you gain 2 life.

2/2

Savra, Queen of the Gruul

Legendary Creature - Elf Shaman

Whenever you cast a red creature spell, you may pay 2 life. If you do, when it enters the battlefield it fights target creature.

Whenever you cast a green creature spell, you gain 2 life.

I couldn't decide so I did both.

Heroes of the Realm cards aren't MTG cards. They're more akin to "bonuses". WOTC is known to be stingy to their employees in that, in lieu of raised and bonuses they get things like discounts, products and similar stuff.

For example, where I work, we get a "Porkformance" (Pork Performance) certificate. I have been doing industrial ammonia refrigeration maintenance for the past two years for the largest dried meats facility... in the world. We produce over THREE MILLION POUNDS of dried meat... per. week. My responsibility is maintaining the industrial ammonia refrigeration systems for it.

We had a water line rupture, and where I live it was 10° F outside. So it froze and began causing problems.

I fixed it.

So they gave me a silly little certificate with my silly little name on it and a silly little note of "For preventing blah blah blah".

The cert is 100% worthless except I can cash it in for $10 bucks off the company store if I want to buy like, idk a packet of meatballs or bacon or something.

Effectively worthless, and given out in lieu of an actual meaningful gift or compensation. You know, because laws.

Anywho... cards such as Sol, Advocate Eternal was printed for like 3 or 4 employees.

These cards are rumored to remain at their respective buildings, aren't allowed to be sold or traded, can't be printed or published, etc.

I've even heard a rumor that WOTC has an internal rule that if you are bestowed (Eh? Eh?? Lol) a legendary creature, you and only you are allowed to use them as a Commander.

The only way to actually get one is to either work at WOTC and be awarded it, or to ̶p̶r̶o̶x̶y̶ them (DON'T DO THAT; TAPPEDOUT DOESN'T ADVOCATE IT) (also hehe 2nd pun).

Effectively what this means is... ya might as well try to tag a Pokemon card in your deck.

February 19, 2025 1:58 a.m.

Gelatinous Dragon

Creature - Ooze Dragon

Flying

Consume - Whenever Gelatinous Dragon destroys another permanent with combat damage, put a +1/+1 counter on it and draw a card.

The Simic really have outdone themselves this time. Biologically it is purely a dragon, but physically it is purely protoplast.

3/3

  • Consume - Whenever ~ destroys another permanent with combat damage, (...)

Make more Consume. Any color(s) work as long as it thematically fits.

It... does kind of seem like it might just be an infinite loop to kill yourself dry

Note though, normally discarding for the end step is not an action and therefore can not be responded to. But in this case it's an triggered ability, which can be as priority would pass.

So players have the means to save you, technically. More importantly you can save yourself if you have appropriate removal such as Path to Exile on Ket

But don't mark my response as the accepted answer. Let's wait until someone has an actual rules code to cite or a similar interaction to fall back on.

But as I read it, yeah you'd deck yourself with no other options

February 17, 2025 3:59 a.m. Edited.

I understand this thread is now 4 and a half years old, but may I ask what OP is referring to?

What rules change made the card in question garbage? Which begs the question, how was it a staple and used before said rules changes?

February 17, 2025 3:50 a.m.

I'm having a bit of a hard time wrapping my head around this one. She's Jund and fights like a Barbarian or Warrior, but is called a Lich and grows bodies and souls which is at best Esper? But she's a Horror, not a Warrior or Wizard?

Is she inspired by like some anime or something?

I don't mean to sound rude. I am legitimately confused here and trying to untangle it in my brain.

Cloning Vat

Artifact

, : Exile a creature card from your graveyard.

, : Cast a copy of a creature card exiled with Cloning Vat. It enters the battlefield with your choice of a Horror, Spirit or Zombie subtype in addition to the rest.

And since wild was also an option... (for Thunder Junction, btw)

Angrath, Stern Outlaw

Legendary Creature - Minotaur Mercenary

Menace, trample

Whenever a legendary outlaw you control deals combat damage to an opponent, you get an experience counter and two treasure tokens. This only triggers once per turn.

Whenever Angrath attacks, Outlaws you control get +X/+X until end of turn where X is the number of experience counters you control.

"I've been a father, a blacksmith, a prisoner, captain and a hero. Now? Now I'm free..."

Settle Down!

Enchantment

All creatures lose vigilance and haste. They can not gain vigilance or haste.

Imbraham  Flip exclaimed, his feathers ferreled with anger, unsure of what this... this... MOCKERY of his classroom was

Rambunctious Acolytes

Enchantment

All creatures gain haste and menace and must attack each turn of able.

While it is true that Strixhaven does not close their chapters for any particular season, it is also true that once every 10 years a planewide celebration occurs and students tend to become... overzealous, in nature...

I think the real challenge was the lore behind the motives.

I can't think of anything so wild

February 15, 2025 2:20 a.m.

The Professor

Legendary Creature - Human Advisor

Whenever you sacrifice a Saga from adding its last lore counter, you get an experience point.

At the beginning of your end step you may pay life equal to or less than twice the number of experience counters you have. For every 2 life paid, draw a card.

3/3

From what I've seen, he loves teaching about the history (saga) of MTG, and loves additional resources to play with (life for cards).

It's surprisingly hard to find a nice picture of him that isn't slathered in goofy text, so no proxy this time, I'm afraid :/

Let's see a rebellious student for Strixhaven. You know, someone who doesn't care about education and just wants to goof off and party or get into trouble.

February 14, 2025 5:43 p.m.

Yeah I'm thinking of redoing Savat as she's strictly worse than Atarka, World Render in basically every meaningful way...

Oooh wait I know...

We can change her from a 5/5 to a 4/7 and then change double strike to triple strike.

Now she deals 12 total combat damage, and opens up far more combat trick opportunities which is what Boros wants.

Yeah, let's do that!

February 13, 2025 10:21 p.m.

Dragonlord Savat

Dragonlord Savat v2

I love the feral nature and spines and overall female vibe of the first one, but I love the cat-like prowess of the second.

That, and the second one has artwork far more aligned with what we have seen from Tarkir previously.

So, you get both. <3

February 13, 2025 8:39 p.m.

Dragonlord Savat

Legendary Creature - Elder Dragon

Flying

Whenever Dragonlord Savat attacks with at least three other creatures, she gains double strike until end of turn.

Savat is known for her ruthless tactics, which are far more cunning and feline in nature than draconic. While most dragons tend to use their breath and teeth, she is not above using her claws, tail and spines.

5/5

One left, which was accidentally listed as Dimir. That exists as Dragonlord Silumgar. The last one is actually Golgari

February 13, 2025 8:27 p.m. Edited.

Sarkhan and Narset, Fates Entwined

Legendary Creature - Human Dragon Shaman Monk

Flying

Dragons you control get +2/+0 and have haste.

Monks you control get +0/+2 and have vigilance.

2/2

They see themselves to become a 4/4 with flying, vigilance and haste while boosting two other expensive tribes

Easily could be the face of a Precon for Tarkir: Dragonstorm

Make a mono-black legendary Phoenix.

You may choose to make it 2-color but it must still be mono-black in casting with the second color being an activated ability. Similar to Spectral Shepherd

February 13, 2025 5:13 p.m.

Zarroth, Archangel of Basking Flames

Legendary Creature - Angel Cleric

Flying, vigilance, haste

When Zarroth enters the battlefield or attacks, she deals damage equal to any target equal to the number of lands you control.

4/7

Lopul, Archdruid of Elincia

Legendary Creature - Dryad Druid

Hexproof, defender

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a land. Put it into your hand and put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. If you do this, skip your draw step.

You may play two additional lands during each of your turns. They each enter tapped.

0/9

Naya lands matter

So we have cards such as Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain, Shepherd of Heroes & Rakish Crew in which a group of cards are given a name.

In this case: Historic, Party and now Outlaws.

Your challenge is to make another grouping of cards. Don't forget to list what they are!

  • Note: Notice for Historic it is permanent types, whereas for Party and Outlaw it is creature subtypes. Don't feel like you need to list creature types only; You could make use of any cards you'd like.

Hell, you could even do "Gatewatch" that cares about Gideon, Jace, Liliana, Chandra and Nissa cards! :D

February 12, 2025 3:36 a.m. Edited.

Kalen, The Flame-Fist

Legendary Creature - Human Wizard

At the beginning of your first main phase, add .

Whenever you cast a red spell, Kalen deals 2 damage to target permanent.

Partner.

2/3

Vorthrax, The Eternal Inferno

Legendary Creature - Dragon

Flying

Dragons you control have haste.

, : Dragon spells you control cost X less to cast until end of turn.

5/5

Obvious 98 is obvious.

Make two more partner cards (they don't need to be "partners with") that has a clear strategy in mind.

February 9, 2025 1:57 a.m.

Syr Barth, Fist of Garenbrig

Legendary Creature - Giant Knight

Ward

Double strike, trample

Syr Barth can't have vigilance.

Syr Barth doesn't untap during your untap step.

Whenever you play a land, untap Syr Barth.

5/7

Might just be the biggest natural body to use double strike but my God is he impressive.

If we are going mono colors, which we should, I had to go as green as possible. Same way as how philias leaned into their design. Also great card advantage for white!!

2 down, 3 to go.
