My first encounter with magic was as a young kid, around 8, when Fifth Dawn and the original Mirrodin sets were around. I didn't really have anyone to play with but my brother-in-law had bought me some cards and I would play with him sometimes. I lost interest for awhile because of my lack of ability to play with anyone else. It wasn't until freshman year of high school, when I heard my friends talking about this game that I was sure had died out years ago, that I picked it back up. By this time, Return to Ravnica had just hit the standard scene a couple weeks prior. I got some cards from friends, picked up some packs and started assembling my first deck. RW humans/angels. It sucked, but I evolved it into more of a RW aggro deck as more of RTR block came out. It never became good because I didn't want to put any money into it at the time. I only really liked playing aggro at that point, but at the Magic Celebration event for whatever reason I decided to pick up the blue pack. And thus, I was converted. After Theros released, I developed an American control deck. I loved the thing to death, and it was actually pretty competitive. I got some work done with it at my LGS FNMs. I stuck with that beautiful creation until Khans came out, where I didn't feel this new "Jeskai" clan could be as competitive a force in a control deck without Supreme Verdict, D-Sphere, Jace AoT, and Sphinx's Rev. I created another decently competitive list, Mardu Midrange. Then, a combination of things happened, from high school coursework getting more demanding of my time and me losing interest in Khans block as it progressed and I sort of stopped playing standard. Instead, I used the money I wasn't spending on standard to build up my EDH collection, which now consists of two decks, Nekusar and Narset. A couple months ago I got drawn back into standard now that I'm in college, and I am running and working on improving Mardu Aristocrats. I had always wanted to play the actual aristocrats list from GTC standard, and I saw this as my opportunity to do something similar. Now if you've been paying close attention, you might have noticed that I never ran green in any deck. This is because it's the only one of the five colors I don't like. I think it's boring. I don't want to beat my opponents down with fat green things, I want to do something interesting! I want something with lots of decisions (this is why blue is my favorite color). However, with commander 2015 just coming out, I am very interested in Mazirek even though he is green...... Anyhow, thanks for reading, feel free to ask any questions (as long as they aren't green related, I can't help much there).
