I play at PlatinumStarGames in Howell NJ where MTG Muddstah periodically visits, I play at Nova Games a filthy establishment in Freehold/Howell NJ on Sunday's, and I shop at Jiffy Photo in Brick NJ store that has it's inventory perfect, and lastly I play at my friends house steve. (Addendum, PlatinumStarGames is closed for good).
I'm a non competitive edh player for the most part. I take pride in my non competitive deck building skills.
Other then playing the game, building decks is my favorite part of the game. Experimenting new tricks, combos, synergies, playstyles, and politics are what makes the game fun for me.
Portal Three Kingdoms was when I played MTG for the first time maybe 6 or 7 games. It wasn't until Journey to Nyx after the military, when I got hooked into to MTG. Since then I have a new love for the game.

You could just make it hard to attack you with cards like Ghostly Prison and force people to attack with cards like Fumiko the Lowblood

Maybe look at Rafiq of the Many on edh.rec
That should help you find good cards to use.

(Side note. I run Chromatic Lantern in only one deck. Its a 2 color boros devotion deck.)

Chromatic Lantern and Joiner Adept should not be up for discussion. They both suck.
- They are only good cards on turn two.
- They provide almost no additional mana. Making them both even worse late game.
However Cryptolith Rite provides ramp and fixing. And in some cases it's a ritual effect if deployed late in the game. This card wins games in a similar fashion that Dockside Extortionist did.

#1The card makes sense in any deck. I wouldn't look at it as a enchantment or artifact like Whip of Erebos. I look at it like a utility land. A one off one time effect to get out of the red zone. Obviously you can use it over and over again. The 5 mana cost is to high for me to use it over and over again. I personally love the land. Do I put it in all my decks that contain black and white? No.
