Gift ideas, most based on his favorite characters currently. The packages are most of the cards that would go in a deck based on that character. He is most interest in spiders, Niv-Mizzet, or Nicol Bolas with zombies and Tezzeret coming next, but he might enjoy some cards across each category. I plan to get him 1x Overwhelming Encounter but it’s a card his deck could use 3-4 of, so us both getting him them could be a plus; otherwise I’ve been careful to not include anything in both lists.
Oliver likes having the tokens for his effects, so recommend checking out Card Kingdom for any that a card mentions. If a card creates more than one type of token, or multiple cards create the same type of token, we could probably get away with having just 1 copy of it: It can get complicated if some have auras or equipment or +1/+1 counters on them so it can be good to have 2-3 but most of the time it isn’t needed.
If getting Reef Worm, suggest getting him the tokens to go with it: Fish token (https://www.cardkingdom.com/mtg/masters-25/fish-token), whale token (https://www.cardkingdom.com/mtg/commander-2014/whale-token-zombie-token-blue), and kraken token (https://www.cardkingdom.com/mtg/commander-2021/kraken-token-wurm-token). He has one of each already but if he gets more Reef Worms it would be good to have at least one more of each of these tokens.
Oliver was less certain lately that he wants an Ajani planeswaker, but he may change his mind when he realizes this can help the Gideon and Garruk Planeswalkers that he would put in a green/white deck (or even Kaya, since we recently built a green/white deck that included some black for her) (updated 2/19/2024). Domri, Dovin, Nahiri, Sarkhan / Tibalt (Valki), and Vraska have all been villains - still his preference - and will give him at least one Planeswalker for each two-color combination along with ones he already has, the Oko that I plan to get him, and the Ajani here. He currently prefers Sarkhan over Tibalt, though I plan to get him a monored Sarkhan that will work a lot better with his dragon deck; I’m not sure if he prefers Tibalt over Angrath but I presume he does, since Angrath isn’t clearly a villain.
