The people on this site cover an ENORMOUS range of information, so I wouldn’t rely just on me. I’m more help when it comes to goofball theme decks. But I USED to actually play magic, back in the day, so I remember a little.

Right CrimsonKing? So archive. That's what I do. I can take apart a maybe lesser or not as played deck with similar cards I might need, pull just the ones I need out, and set aside or put that deck in the closet for a rainy day.

So you are aware, cards like Hall of the Bandit Lord , Mana Confluence and Ramunap Ruins don't buff Auntie Blyte as "Pay life" is part of the cost and is not the permanent itself doing damage to you.

Nice creature cheat build. I’d very much recommend playing regular old Counterspell over either Condescend or Dissolve. Scry is nice, but Counterspell is simply more reliable to cast. Otherwise, this looks like a fun time!

Enchanted Evening and Gremlin Tamer is not an infinite. It synergizes but you need to keep dropping enchantments to trigger Gremlin Tamer Bookrook. Read the text and then read the definition of an infinite in MTG.

Profet93 Norin is my newest deck. I searched for some cards that work with enters the battlefield and supplemented it with what I already had. I suspect I have too many decks and not enough arcane signets. I'll see if I can find another one.

Good to know that Confusion in the Ranks triggers itself. I will add it to my discription.

In my playgroup, there are a few players who always target me no matter what deck I play, so I better give them a good reason. Hence my Hokori stax deck and Worldfire in Norin. I set their world on fire.

I think I want to keep the theme of getting a lot of ETB triggers. I was thinking that tokens could help with this and can serve as blockers since Norin is too cowardly to block and my opponents have alot of amry decks. That's why I’ve included Horn of Gondor in the deck. I was also thinking about Krenko. Do you have any ideas on how I can get extra ETB triggers?

I've played the deck a few times, and the card draw feels good so far. I will need to play a bit more to get a sense of what is needed.

During the time a printing of Enduring Renewal was in Standard or Extended around 2007 or so along with Deathrender I snuck them into a Goblin Aggro/Burn deck. So it had goblins like Wort, Boggart Auntie, Boggart Harbinger, Mogg Fanatic and Siege-Gang Commander along with Nantuko Husk and Boggart Shenanigans. It also had the tribal burn cards and some other stuff
The deck was crazy fun, you would curve out at the start like typical Mono Red Aggro with Burn and then suddenly plop an infinite combo on the table that did infinite damage and/or made infinite goblins. Wort, Boggart Auntie gets around Enduring Renewal making you pitch your creature cards amd also returned tribal burn cards. And Boggart Shenanigans let you win with whatever goblins you had in hand. The deck didn't need the combo to win at all but was fun when it happened and always surprised my opponents. I dont mean this as a plug for a deck but here is a rough list of what I briefly ran: Boggarted My Deck.

Upvoted for trying to make a deck that overlaps two formats... and because I like Premodern. Just for reference though, I don't think Grim Tutor is Premodern legal. Premodern was meant to emulate the Standard environment of 1995-2003 so it doesn't include the starter and portal sets, or promo cards from that period. https://premodernmagic.com/cards ^is a good resource for the format (and one of the reasons I think it's had success along with using the modern rules) but has some bugs compared to scryfall

Caran_Lyg, good point, my main concern was just having more copies and rolling into them later when the combo was already set. Put the cart before the horse there! Tried to fix it up a bit, but not sure if this is a better setup or not.

Bookrook, trying to keep it casual/mono-white if possible. The few cards that have separate colors are all either that color or white in the cost department. But I’ll for sure look into using that if I ever decide to do more shenanigans with enchantment decks!

Omnath Umbra

Legendary Enchantment - Aura

You may pay instead if this spell targets a legendary creature you control.

Enchant creature

Enchanted creature gets +5/+5, is an elemental and all colors in addition to its other types. It has Ward .

Totem Armor (If enchanted creature would be destroyed, instead remove all damage from it and destroy this Aura.)

One deck idea I've always wanted to do is Voltron but with Bestow / Mutate and Auras. The problem is, if the commander dies, largely everything goes to the yard with it.

Bestowed enchantments do pop off and become creatures, but those features are by in large only good enough to be chump blockers at best.

So make a WUBRG commander who would solve the problem of non-equipment cards dropping off into the graveyard, without just saying "Whenever this creature dies, return all Auras attached to it to their owners hands." or some variation of that (such as shuffled into the library)

Enchanted creature gets +0/+3 and has "Put an aura enchanting this creature and each creature it’s blocking on top of their owners’ libraries, then those players shuffle."

Umbra Armor

I want to see a multicolor Umbra Armor. We've actually had only one of those.

From a Modern-format perspective, midrange was king for the entirety of MH2 through to before-MH3, and from that perspective, the format was very interactive/healthy.

The release of MH3 has skewed the format more towards strengthening aggro and combo strategies, but there is still lots of room for interaction and midrange decks - you just need to ensure you have options available to battle the faster-paced meta.

Probably more bounce lands. Arid Archway Coral Atoll Guildless Commons Jungle Basin are the ones you could run.

Also, Avenger of Zendikar, Druid Class, Khalni Heart Expedition, and maybe Zendikar Resurgent. Engulf the Shore for a boardwipe. Fecund Greenshell is a good buff card in a Landfall deck. Life and Limb Natural Affinity and Rude Awakening can be close a game.

I will say, I always thought that Xmen 2 was a masterclass in acting. With Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Brian Cox, every character that was meant to be larger than life was played by a Shakespearean actor, while the characters that were meant to be more relatable were hollywood actors, and it really made it feel like there were two very well defined levels to the story. And I really feel like Alan Cumming just is nightcrawler, he nailed it, and even brought some levity to the character.

This kind of reminds me, because Hugh Jackman, but if you ever get the chance to watch the DvD commentary for Van Helsing, it's so entertaining.

Don’t you think it makes more sense if you added more copies of your key combo pieces so you have a higher chance of pulling them than waiting turn 7-8 for just one of them? If you do add more of them, also add more land so you’re not just pulling your high cost cards with no lands to use for them.

10/24/24 Revisions

Why?

A bit of a fast follow-up here, I know. While I liked where the deck was at, I couldn't help but notice that it was still far too slow. Sure, when you get to turn 7 or so, the deck was able to start pumping out, but those first turns were grueling. Essentially having 0 ways to cheat for extra mana put me far behind any deck that is even slightly competitive. So, this change was hard to make, but definitely feeds the machine of progress through the entirety of the game. Reducing the CMC of the deck with the removal of certain high-cost low value cards will ensure a better early game while not damaging the late game potential too much. One of my favorite parts of this deck is how resistant it is to being board wiped, and I think this has improved that, instead of spending an entire turn to play a 6-cost card like Elspeth, only for her to be killed the next turn I can spend my turns playing more combo pieces and not have a large cost card that's dead in hand.

Captain of the Watch: 6 Mana to create 3 tokens, plus vigilance and +1/+1. Personally I think the card is pretty good, but in White it's very slow for a mid payout. In this deck +1/+1 and Vigilance isn't nearly the game changer it would be if it were in a deck that only cares about swinging

Colonel Autumn: While his Exploit ability is pretty good, especially with the amount of legendaries in this deck, it's still not good enough and it's another case of the actual damage done during my attack phase doesn't matter nearly as much as the triggers I get off the phase

Talisman of Conviction: Replaced by Moxes, I like the Talismans but too slow compared to the 0-cost moxes

Talisman of Hierarchy: Replaced by Moxes, I like the Talismans but too slow compared to the 0-cost moxes

Talisman of Indulgence: Replaced by Moxes, I like the Talismans but too slow compared to the 0-cost moxes

Evolving Wilds: Not terrible, but there's better options. Takes 1 turn to be usable.

Myriad Landscape: You get to waste 2 turns AND spend 3 mana to get 2 tapped lands. Not ideal.

Intangible Virtue: Similar to Autumn and Captain of the Watch, at this point I care much less about the damage dealt by the tokens and more about their usability in triggers

Elspeth, Sun's Champion: 6 mana chonker for either 3 tokens, or 1/2 of an Austere Command. If she lives it's great, but she's a pretty big target for elimination. I like her, but once again, too slow and too risky to dump 6 mana into

Keeper of the Accord: I have 4 basic plains in the deck, and I almost never have less creatures than everyone else. If this card needs to come out, I have probably already lost the game and am far behind.

MacCready, Lamplight Mayor: This kind of hurts to remove. MacCready is super interesting in the deck and gets a good amount of damage to sneak through, but at the late game, most of my tokens are too big for his ability to use.

Commander Mustard: He provides WAYYY more value than Captain of the Watch in the form of trample and haste, as well as he costs 1 less than it, is a human soldier and his 2nd ability is very synergystic with the rest of the deck, even for 4 mana. Basically he provides two triggers of impact tremors when I swing out, giving my tokens more value

Priest of Forgotten Gods: This card is actually kind of busted. Forcing enemies to sacrifice creatures gets around indestructable, or big boys, pings their face for 2 damage, free mana, and card draw. All of this for a two cost card and sacrificing 2 creatures. Actually kind of insane to have all of these effects for 2 1/1 tokens.

Jeska's Will: Free mana is exactly what I was looking for. Against a deck that uses thought vessel, or reliquary tower, ad nauseum, ect... just any deck that draws cards easily (90% of decks especially with the One Ring still unbanned), this will work wonders for my X-cost cards, or just getting some of the bigger boys out.

Chrome Mox: Better Talisman IMO

Mox Amber: Almost all of my creatures are legendary, free money. Arcane Signet for 0 mana

Mox Diamond: 0 mana for any color I need every turn

Phyrexian Altar: Essentially just Ashnod's altar

Afterlife Insurance: Amazing protection against boardwipes, or punishing people for blocking me. 2 mana to recover all my tokens

Phyrexian Tower: Exactly what I was looking for, a way to generate more mana than just 1 colored.

Urza's Saga: No brainer, free colorless for 2 turns, then I get a Sol Ring, Mox, Mana Vault. Whatever fits my needs

Prosperous Partnership: 3 mana to generate 2 creature tokens and treasure tokens when I'm not ready to swing with my entire board. Also works well with vigilance!
