My playgroup has a rule 0 we use to help games start better. Conditions you have to meet:
- You have not taken a mulligan yet
- Your hand has 0, 1, 6, or 7 lands in it
If you meet those, instead of taking a normal mulligan, you:
- Fan out your hand faceup for everyone to see
- Draw 7
You can do this as many times as you want, as long as you meet the conditions. If your deck runs out of cards, shuffle up and start over. This happened once, when the Krenko player shuffled all his mountains to the bottom of his deck.

When you use the effect of returning the commander to the command zone instead of shuffling it into the deck, you still only shuffle 3 cards, and the commander returns to the command zone. So you end up drawing 3 cards. By the way, if we were talking about finances, I would recommend using for convenient and secure online payments, but in this case it's purely a game issue.

The movies at least the original trilogy very much felt like a product of their time. And haven't aged well then the MCU came along and showed what super hero movies could be. Logan and days of future past get lots of praise and rightfully so. But I think that the new trilogy had to be tied to the d trilogy really hurt things

Heya you've got this Marked For Help, looking for suggestions? I'm a bit of a Rat connoisseur myself, so I can definitely make some if you're keen.
What's interesting is the cheap price tag for the deck, makes me think you could take this in two different directions. One would be upgrade the power level and cost to keep Vren as the commander. The other option would be to ride that $30 cost, remove Vren as the commander (Sliver-Fur Master could be the new commander to keep ), and go for Pauper EDH. In that format you can have an Uncommon Commander that is non-legendary, and the rest of the deck are all Commons. So it can be dirt cheap and built of cards you have lying around.
Anyways, let me know if you're looking for some specific suggestions.

To be 100% clear on the details: Hellkite Charger's ability is a triggered ability (starts with "when/whenever/at"), not an activated ability (written as "[cost] : [effect]"). You're given an optional cost of to pay as the trigger resolves if you want to get the rest of the effect, but it's not an activation cost and you're not activating anything. The distinction matters for effects that care about activated vs. triggered abilities, such as Rings of Brighthearth vs. Strionic Resonator.

Hello there,
In a deck like this, something like Patriarch's Bidding will invariably benefit you way more than others. Tons of ETBs etc. Whilst your opponents also get a level of recursion from this, you say "elves" and pop all the pointy eared ones from your graveyard back into play.
Add in a Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler and a Thousand-Year Elixir and they gain "ability haste", meaning all those mana dorks etc, can all be activated as well.

Here are a few quick “I just woke up and barely know where I am” comments: (1) think that The Stack is still the biggest hurdle for new players, so I can see why they’d be hesitant to do more with it (2) one could argue that there have been a number of sets devoted to the stack, with all of the spell copying and whatnot of Strixhaven as an example (3) with all of the creatures now having at least one ability… it seems like The Stack is being used as much now as ever, even when you’re ignoring counterspells.

After playing this there are a few notes. Was able to infinite with: Ashnod's Altar + Brood Monitor + Emiel the Blessed
Some mana issues. I found myself in a few games hunting for that second forest or plains. There are definitely improvements that can be made to the landbase.
Midnight Guard does almost nothing for me, probably needs to be replaced.

Since board states already can become complex very quickly, I believe the stack, as a zone, needs to be explored more to add strategic depth and design space at some point. Be it with new card types that only work on the stack, or other shenanigans that are stack-only. Not more-of-the-same, but rather actual new real estate on the stack. (My humble opinion anyway)
I understand why WotC are hesitant, but we will eventually get there, just in the same way they were hesitant to go evergreen/deciduous with hybrid and cycle at some point, but later realized how much it helps their design environments.

Shahrazad isn't a Stax/Prison/Turbo Fog sort of stall effect. It's a "abuse a quirk of the rules to damage the tournament structure" sort of stall effect.
Let's say I won game 1 and sideboard in Shahrazads, copy spells, and recursion. The match clock hits 00:00, and final turns are called. There are five turns to win or lose. If there's no winner after five turns, it's a draw.
I start the first turn by casting and copying Shahrazad. We now have to play two full subgames to resolve those. The first one finishes, but in the second subgame, I again cast and copy Shahrazad. There's now two more subgames we have to play to resolve the second subgame of the original Shahrazad. To resolve one spell and its copy, on the first of five time-limit turns, we have to go through three additional full games. And unless one of us is at 3 or less life in the main game, these three additional games probably don't affect the outcome of the main game.
Now repeat that on turn 3 of 5 and turn 5 of 5, and I can go through nine full Bo1 subgames to end the main game. If a single subgame takes ten minutes, I just added around an hour and a half to the match. The only way out of it is for one of us to concede the main game, and I don't want to lose my 1-0 match advantage. All the other tournament matches finished a long time ago, and people are bored and frustrated. And this isn't even the worst-case scenario.

You cannot activate the Hellkite's ability, as it was never on the battlefield to be declared as an attacker at the beginning of your combat step.
Triggered abilities that check when a creature attacks check for that when a creature is declared as an attacker at the Declare Attackers part of combat.
Ilharg's ability triggers during that Declare Attackers phase, so the creature it puts onto the battlefield with its ability enters after that phase, & is never a declared attacker. Since the creature is already entering tapped and attacking, it never had the opportunity to trigger any attack triggers.
Wiki page for reference. Also something I'm fairly familiar with from playing various aggro commanders.

I control an Ilharg, the Raze-Boar and attack with it, bringing in a Hellkite Charger from my hand. Do I get to use the Hellkite's activated ability? I'm not sure if there is a distinction between "attacks" and "put onto the battlefield attacking". It was not declared at attacker. Does that matter?

Idoneity thanks for the recommendations! Conquerer a little outside of the budget of this deck. I like the other two as options for token generation, but want to try and balance out the colors of the tokens being created. I already feel that the tokens are a little white heavy, but I will compare them to the white token generators already in the deck.

I would suggest against “mana weaving” - it’s a bad practice and is pretty cheating-adjacent.
This site can help you work out whether you have the right ratio of lands-to-nonlands in your decks, as far as helping to show you draw-odds.
Other things to consider/evaluate:
-
I have no idea whether this applies to you, but could this more a case of your mana curve being too high? You might be thinking you’re lacking mana, when the reality could be that the deck is too clumsy/slow to perform on a reasonable land-count.
-
I also have no idea whether this applies to you, but could it be the case you’re shuffling in a way where the deck is not being properly randomised? I’ve witnessed some atrocious attempts at shuffling, with those players not understanding why their deck consistently has all their lands clumped together (note, random means sometimes this will happen - but it happening every game is indicative something more is afoot!). It may sound stupid, but it’s worth verifying you’re shuffling in a way that properly randomises your cards - this video covers it pretty perfectly.

Bookrook the problem with the card isn’t that it’s strong (practically speaking, it’s fairly weak). The problem with the card and why it’s banned, which has already been discussed, is that it far too easily allows games to stall indefinitely. Its presence is toxic towards games ending in a remotely-reasonable time, and it makes any form of tournament a miserable experience.
Cards don’t have to exist on the banlist for power-reasons alone. As we see with this card, its problems stem from just creating a toxic game environment.
There’s zero reason to unban this, as it adds nothing to the game while ruining a lot of play-experiences entirely. I’m sure those people that had to live through the competitive scene while this card existed will only speak poorly of its existence.
Also sideboards exist. If you’re planning to stall after a game 1 win, it’s trivially easy to only have this card in your deck game 2, to make sure the only game that finishes is that first game. The card forces games into being “best of 1”, which is just terrible

Honestly, I feel like it could be unbanned in vintage. It’s a strong enough format that a stalling strategy wouldn’t be broken. Also, if your playing sharazad to stall, your chances of actually winning the game that validates the stall strategy decreases.

Imo tgere’s nothing to indicate wotc are going to reduce their quantity of stack-interaction - just that there’s no intention to explore further in this domain. Note that the only cards that directly interact with the stack at the moment are counterspells (you could argue instants and abilities can also interact with the stack, but they’re generally more of a timing-thing and less of a stack-interaction-thing).
What do you think we’re missing out on? How do you think the game could be improved by moving focus more towards the stack (and, by extension, away from the easily-representable boardstate of the game)??

In this post, Mark Rosewater addresses a fan who is fond of cards that heavily interact with the stack, but Rosewater stated that most players prefer to play with permanents on the battlefield, so WotC shall be focusing more strongly on the battlefield, and I dislike that, because, while creatures are my favorite cards in the game, I enjoy using other cards, as well, and I believe that other players who enjoy interacting with the stack should be allowed to indulge themselves, as well.
What does everyone else say about this? How do you feel about Mark Rosewater's comments, on this matter?

I have replaced the two copies of Deus of Calamity with two copies Sunder Shaman, because, while there is guarantee that my opponent shall be using artifacts or enchantments, whereas it is practically guaranteed that they shall be using lands, I feel that land destruction is simply a very sadistic strategy, so I would prefer to avoid employing it, and I also replaced the four copies of Boggart Ram-Gang with two copies each of Halana and Alena, Partners and Samut, Vizier of Naktamun, since the new cards are vastly superior to the old cards. I also am considering replacing Spidersilk Armor with another card, since I feel that that card is fairly underwhelming, in this deck.

DemonDragonJ on How Did the X-Men Film …
The first X-Men film was amazing, as it completely redefined superhero films, showing that they could be serious and dramatic, and not merely colorful camp fests, as were Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, and, in doing that, it helped to bring superhero media to mainstream audiences, when, before, such projects would have been viewed only by dedicated audiences. Its sequel, X-Men 2, was equally as good, and, in many ways, improved upon the best parts of the first film, so audiences were certain that a new cinematic franchise had been born, and expectations were understandably high for the third film, but X-Men 3 was a severe disappointment compared to the first two films, in that it had simply too many plots running simultaneously and felt too over-the-top, compared to its predecessors, a trend that also was seen in Spiderman 3, Shrek the Third, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Robocop 3, Terminator 3, and The Dark Knight Rises, all of which were unquestionably the worst installments of their respective trilogies; in fact, the only trilogy whose third installment I believe to be the best was the Star Wars prequel trilogy, in which I feel that Revenge of the Sith was far superior to The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones (not that that was a high bar to clear, of course).
After the poor reception of X-Men 3, the franchise became a roller coaster of highs and lows, with some films being nearly as good as the first two, but others being abysmally poor; X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a prequel to the original trilogy, was supposed to be the first of several origin stories, with the second one focusing on Magneto's journey from World War II to the present day, but Wolverine performed very badly, so Fox abandoned any further prequels and instead decided to entirely reboot the series with X-Men: First Class, which I personally believe was the best film of the franchise, other than the first two, and that film could have saved the series, if not for the studio's inexplicable decision to retcon the film as a prequel, rather than a clean reboot (despite there being clear contradictions between the original trilogy and First Class), which then led to the continuity of the film series being remarkably convoluted and difficult to understand. Despite the poor reception of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Fox made a second film starring Logan, The Wolverine, which I shall confess I do not recall, at all, and, them, X-Men: Days of Future Past was when the timeline became truly a clustered mess of disparate ideas, since it was a direct sequel to First Class, yet also incorporated actors, characters, and plot elements from the original trilogy, although the ending of that movie was supposed to clear up the timeline, as the next film, Age of Apocalypse, directly followed Days of Future Past, but, around the same time, Logan was released, directly following The Wolverine, albeit with a radically different tone from any of the previous films, and most people regarded Logan as an amazing film, giving a perfect conclusion to Hugh Jackman's portrayal of the character (until Deadpool and Wolverine ruined that), but the next film, Dark Phoenix, is the film that most people agree finally killed the franchise, which is unfortunate, since the phoenix storyline is one of the best-known storylines in the original X-Men comics. However, the actual final film of the franchise, New Mutants, was an entirely standalone film with no connections to any previous film in the franchise, apart from the fact that the characters were mutants, and I believe that it could have revived the franchise, but the Covid-19 pandemic, combined with Disney's acquisition of Fox, ruined those plans, so I shall forever wonder how differently everything would have been, otherwise.
I do think that it is truly a tragedy that the franchise that revived superhero films ended in such a manner, going out with a whimper, rather than with a bang, and I am certain that the franchise could have been an amazing one, if only the writers had been able to maintain the same quality from the first two films, but that sadly did not happen, so I shall forever wonder how it may have ended differently.
What does everyone else say, about this subject? How did the X-Men film series fall from grace so severely?
