I am trying to override the color of a card to be gold for my commander cube, but I can't find what letter should be after the color semicolon in the decklist
Thank you!

Kenzo, the Hard-Hearted is hands down someone I'd pick to sit in my war cabinet. He knows how to make hard choices. The story reflects my love and passion for him and the set as a whole, I'll be sure to checkout Heroes of Redwall Abbey. Thanks for checking this out!

Nice I love Boros and the Bushido is perfect for it. Kudos on the story too! I see you put a good deal of effort into that, molding the story through the cards. I'm all about that and the old Kamigawa cards, that was one of the first sets I ever played in MtG and it makes me nostalgic everytime.
If you're looking to update the deck, you could consider some stuff like Fighter Class or Master Warcraft to force your opponent to block with something that will die to Bushi, rather than rely on them willingly blocking.
Embercleave is pretty nutty and could soup Bushi up big time, surprise double strike ain't nothing to shake a stick at.
Then there's the classic Umezawa's Jitte, build up some charge counters and you can buff Bushi at instant speed. Although the opponent will see it coming, they may not have a choice. And it's Betrayers of Kamigawa classic Samurai to boot.
Sejiri Shelter Flip is also pretty cool, these new dual face lands have got potential to really pad a list. Admittedly more useful in EDH, but I see some stuff in here that could be replaced by that to make some room. There's a few Boros dual face lands too that could be considered here for our boy Bushi. Legion Leadership Flip comes to mind.
Minas Tirith is becoming an auto include in almost all my White decks, it's just so good especially if aggro.
My deck Heroes of Redwall Abbey might give you some more ideas, most of these suggestions are pulled from there. Good luck brave Samurai Warrior!

Pure stall. You cast Shahrazad and Twincast it. Start the first subgame and cast another Shahrazad. Probably finish that one, then start the subgame from the copied Shahrazad. Cast another Shahrazad and Fork it. At this point, you've started two subgames within a subgame after finishing another subgame, all while barely affecting the main game and possibly using no more than two actual physical copies of Shahrazad. With a full playset of Shahrazad and enough copy effects, it's possible to start a game that goes on for hours, or until the tournament organizers kick you out for deliberate slow play.
That's why it got banned, by the way. People would win game 1 of a tournament match, then force games 2+ to go way past time. The main game can't be called until all the sub games are finished, if I remember right.

Kudos on you for taking out Thassa's oracle. I alongside so many hate the combo but still run it because it's just so easy to string (especially for builds with Eldritch Evolution and Chord of calling). Perhaps it's a premeditated feeling to the next ban lol.
I am confused why Gitaxian Probe was removed (unless it's for the same rationale of being too cheap).
While the bans certainly weakened combat focused Najeela, I think the distinct lack of a creature based meta still gives her a good chance. With a build like yours that guns for the 1 card combos, it should be able to take enough people by surprise.
From my tests with the bans, as long as there is one opening, there's a good chance of winning.

Also, saying Phoenix bird in the type line makes me think back to the days of cards like: summon Ali from Cairo. Speaking of which, I feel like they should errata him to make him a legend.

Shrazarad is banned in every single format, including vintage, because it makes games longer for no reason. I’ve been looking at it, and and it seems that even if it were legal, it would still be a really bad card. If it were legal, does anyone know any deck based around it or any way to abuse it?

Craeter based on what you said about creating short stories behind your constructed lists, I think I would point you towards my Bunny-Bushi list. It's the most in line with what you've done here, and albeit a bit older in my constructed lists I liked the concept I was able to put together. Other things where I told a story are lists like Primal. Besides all of that, it's clear that Crow recognized you got game. I wish you well in your building in the future! Don't underestimate how much effort you put into this, because it reflects so well.

Even if you want to keep the deck high power low cost, helm of the ghastlord is still so powerful with nekusar that I would play it. It’s just four mana and stops your opponents from gaining any card advantage.

Andramalech Wow thank you for singing me such high praise. I don't feel like I truly deserve it since Crow_Umbra put in the real legwork here, but I appreciate it nonetheless.
I really enjoy building themed lists and writing stories behind them. I'm slowly working on writing short stories for most of my decks on my profile. Haven't quite made it to this one yet, but almost there.
I'll check out some of your decks as well friend.

You my fine friend, are a god amongst meer mortals for your commitment alone. I appreciate this effort beyond words. It made my day not only to see this as a list and know it was unique, but then to see that Crow_Umbra and Balaam__ both were mentioned is just icing on the cake. Mushashi is a stapled list on this site the way that Kamerot has Om-Nom Trample. So a lot of love, creativity, and passion are obviously behind this list. +1 and a highlight of my month, for sure!

Memory jar and peer into the abyss are such powerful cards that I would play a copy of them anyway. Plus you can bluff peer to dissuade people from attacking you, as it is just a walking instakill. To counteract these pricier cards, I would play more ramp such as a skyclave relic or one of the signets. Helm of the Ghastlord is another card I forgot to mention.

I don't think there's any in-universe reason. As a game device, the concept of a Phoenix is pretty recognizable to the core and target audience of the game, so it doesn't need to be defined. Same thing why Minotaur is a type, and they're not all Ox or whatever. So I would say it's pretty much familiarity, continuity (they did it in the past, so it's easy to keep doing), and a little bit of game balance.
There's nothing really stopping them from making turning all Phoenixes into Elemental Birds, but they don't need to and I don't think they want to.
FormOverFunction on Are there any flavor/biological reasons …

I think bird would be reasonable, but the concept of “avatars” comes to mind when I think of a phoenix. I don’t know any actual history on the topic, but many of the avatars also aren’t humans or knights or angels or any of the other things that they look like, but I think that’s because they’re actually a manifestation of something. I feel like a phoenix is similar, though that points strongly towards “elemental” in the argument… and I think that’s where we get to the “elementals are already pretty strong, and adding phoenixes to that cohort would likely be problematic” position. I would wager phoenix will remain an avatar-like thing, forever on their own pedestal.
StopShot on Are there any flavor/biological reasons …

I’m sure there’s game balance reasons to make the distinction, but I was wondering if there are any lore reasons why phoenixes would neither count as birds or elementals. Especially since some are referred to as “firebird.”
Bonus Question: is there anything keeping WoTC from making an errata on all phoenix creatures by giving them the bird and/or elemental creature type in addition with their phoenix creature type?

I would include Up the Beanstalk, but it only triggers off of 17 cards in the deck (including my commander). Sure, once I go infinite and get infinite cast triggers it would end the game, but there are better options in what's already included namely - Elemental Bond and Garruk's Uprising. Would you cut Elemental Bond for Guardian Project?

It does seem like a good fit! I'm used to being the weakest person in my pod since I've been playing for the least amount of time, so I still feel conflicted on how strong to build my decks. I'd say our pod started pretty low to mid tier but I can see us going to higher power decks once I become more confident. If I end up buying this then I can see this being my saltiest deck LOL (and yes I pulled that Smothering Tithe from a WOE pack. I did NOT buy that as a single). And I think it's more fun to have a wide range of power-levels in decks, too. I might go ahead and add it! Thanks for the suggestion.

Bookrook thanks for the suggestions!
This deck is pretty lean. While, I think those adds would be a great for a lower power version of the deck, the intent here is to be as lean and mean as possible. In my experience, Nekusar is an Archenemy commander meaning that we rarely ever get to cast big, fat spells in a meaningful fashion. Cerebral Vortex was a card that was in the earliest iteration of the deck, but the unfortunate fact that it only targets a single player makes it pretty low on value.
Again, I do appreciate the suggestions, though! I like where your head is!

I say go for it, Craeter. I only know the most fundamental basics of EDH but that sounds like something that would be quite fun to play. You’d have access to a wider range of options too, probably many of the ones I wanted to include here but couldn’t because of the cardpool limitations.

Oh, in the event anybody asks (Which I'm sure someone will), ... yes, I am doing better.
It was something deeply personal that happened between my fiancee and I. Long story short, one of her family members began spreading lies about her, to me, trying to convince me that she was cheating on me - with the expressed hopes that I would leave her, because they don't like me.
Yeah.
Thankfully instead of blowing up in incredible rage at her, I was able to maintain my calm and composure and we talked it out and realized everything being said was vicious lies.
But in the meantime, the depression set in harder and faster than ever.
- "Timmy, didn't you use to speak about your rage and anger like all the time?"
Yes, I did. But she helped to heal me over the past year and a half... The thing that actually made me dedicate myself to her and our future together was one day she came to me, terrified, needing legitimate help. She texted me on the verge of tears, then said she needed to go because she was afraid of my response but had no other option but to ask...
And that made me realize where I was in my life... A person genuinely and deeply loves me, trusts me and cares for me... yet is fully and wholly terrified of me...
That broke me. It shattered my very soul.
So I immediately dedicated myself to changing my life once and for all, not even for me, but for her.
So you can now understand why, when I was told these atrocious and vicious lies about her, it utterly destroyed me.
But thankfully, because I have been working on my rage for the past 5 or 6 months, I was able to approach her calmly and asked what we need to do as adults to move forward with our relationship, or would she like to end it. Thankfully because I was calm, she and I talked it out and are still together.
Sorry for the rant and story, but I know people here care and I wanted to take the time to make a single post everyone can read, rather than everyone posting their own questions and comments, which would require replies, which in turn bogs the thread down.
This seemed like the simpler option, so I hope you all understand <3
Let's continue with the challenge:
- Make something happy.

Update: I only swapped a few cards in, Sanctum Weaver, Shigeki, Gloomshrieker, Weaver of Harmony, Composer of Spring, Glacial Chasm and Black Market Connections. I took out From Beyond (too slow), Krosan Grip (not an enchantment), Traverse the Ulvenwald (also not an enchantment), and both Kodama's and Cultivate (since it had enough ramp and often I'd just ramp into nothing).
I would swap Deadly Tempest for Meathook Massacre if I could afford one. I haven't updated my decks too much with newer sets, so bear that in mind but the list is pretty tight as is.
I've also won a number of games with just an early Nyxbloom Ancient, and outpacing more casual opponents. You should be winning if you get Defense of the Heart off too, just get the Ancient and Argothian.
As for playing it, only play Cadaverous Bloom when you have cards in hand and an enchantress, it won't do much otherwise and just draw hate. Abundance is also insane with it, drawing all gas.
