stompy/zoo is just aggro, which coco does best. the simplest answer is to cut the enchantments and helix and run Aether Vial and coco. if coco whiffs, you just built the deck wrong.

In my 3 years playing cats seriously, they most align with a stompy/zoo based strategy. Coco is fine IF you hit a lord or 2, but there are also cards in my build that do not mesh well with it. Also, due to the amount of spells I run, Coco whiffing is more likely than not.

Because we don't need it. The cat's don't need a 4 mana instant speed spell that can whiff. They curve out reliably on their own. Same reason why Aether Vial was dropped. Just not necessary.

Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth - To make something like temple of false or eye of ugin to tap for green. Yavimaya Hollow - Protection/politics. None of the lands are really needed, just nice to have.
Maybe a Crucible of Worlds - Get back cycled lands, replay fetch lands (Azusa or courser makes it even better). Although it depends on the amount of fetches you utilize.

Not a fan of Coco. Tried it before and it was redundant. I wanted to try Skyknight, but I felt like it was a little slow. Might need to revisit.
We had Feline Sovereign as our second lord before Arahbo was released. We will definitely have it in our sideboard for particular match ups. :)

I think you should add more creatures and ramp and cut a few noncreatures. Cards such as stratus dancer can replace a counterspell. Check out my decklist for an almost CEDH list

I am currently running a Cat Tribal/Kindred deck in modern currently and have been running very well. Feline Sovereign is an amazing card in the current format it seems. I have been running a 4-of Collected Company and also running a couple Skyknight Squire as well.

plakjekaas if you google "mtg punisher cards", the first link says punisher cards can be either of those types of choices.
btw rosewater didn't actually say black shouldn't have punisher cards, just that neither of the choices should be something the color normally doesn't do. like Dash Hopes countering a spell. but thats another time spiral card.

When I first started playing, I tried to build a Kor tribal/equipment deck. No matter how much I adjusting things, it never seemed to work out well - either too many equipments and not enough creatures, or the other way around. I just took your word for it that your decklist 'runs smoothly,' but I consider that a feat. And I noticed that this deck hadn't been updated in 9 years, but since I'm not much into EDH, I figured my knowledge base applied better to casual. Anyway, cheers!

plakjekaas Which format are you referring to? I’m not sure ”forever” is quite correct, i’ve been playing Modern since Battle for Zendikar, and haven’t seen this card once. It looks playable for kitchen-table environments, but I don’t think they typically use sideboards (or need to worry about burn).

Your examples are not punishment, they're cruel choices. It's not "i get this good thing unless you get a bad thing", it's "you get one bad thing or another bad thing".
A black punisher card would be Temporal Extortion which we shouldn't count for color philosophy purposes, because it's from Time Spiral block.
